Refund & Cancellation Policy
Effective date: September 1, 2025

1. Overview
Resurge India Foundation (“Resurge”, “we”, “us”) is a charitable trust. Donations received by Resurge are voluntary contributions to support our programmes and are generally considered irrevocable once accepted and applied toward our charitable activities.
This Refund & Cancellation Policy explains the limited circumstances under which refunds or cancellations may be considered and the steps donors should follow to request a refund or cancel a recurring donation.
Short summary for donors: Donations are usually non-refundable. Refunds will only be considered in exceptional cases (duplicate payments, technical errors, unauthorized transactions or proven processing errors). Recurring donations can be cancelled for future payments (but charges already in process may not be reversed).
2. When refunds are considered
We will consider refund requests only in the following circumstances:
Duplicate donations — You were charged more than once for the same donation due to user, system or processor error.
Technical/payment processing errors — A payment was processed in error (for example, a failed checkout that resulted in a visible double charge).
Unauthorized transactions — A payment you did not authorize (subject to investigation and confirmation).
Clerical or administrative errors — The wrong amount was charged due to our mistake.
Payment Gateway/Bank mistakes — Clear evidence supplied by the payment processor or bank showing error in settlement.
Refunds will not be issued for:
Donations that have been deliberately made and confirmed by the donor.
Donations that have already been lawfully applied to programmes, grants, goods or services already delivered by Resurge.
Donations made in exchange for goods or event tickets when the event/fulfilment was performed as described, except where the event was cancelled or materially changed (see Events section).
Changes of mind or regret after a donation has been processed (unless a duplicate/technical error applies).
3. Time limits to request a refund
Standard window: Please submit refund requests within 30 calendar days of the donation date.
Requests made after 30 days may still be considered in exceptional circumstances (for example, demonstrable processing error or fraud), but approvals are less likely and will be at Resurge’s discretion.
4. How to request a refund
- To request a refund, please send an email to office@resurgeindia.org or use the Site’s Contact form and include the following information:
- Full name of the donor;
- Email address and contact phone number used for the donation;
- Date and approximate time of the transaction;
- Transaction reference or donation ID (as shown on the payment receipt);
- Amount donated and payment method (card, UPI, netbanking, wallet, etc.);
- Brief explanation of why you are requesting a refund; and
- Any supporting documents or screenshots showing the problem (eg. duplicate charge).
- We will acknowledge receipt of your request within 3 business days and will investigate. We may request additional information to validate the claim.
5. Refund decision, approvals & processing time
- Investigation and approval: Refund requests require validation. Resurge may coordinate with the Payment Gateway or banking partner for investigation. Approval of a refund is at Resurge’s discretion, subject to verification of eligibility under Section 2.
- Processing time: If approved, refunds will ordinarily be processed to the original payment method within 7–14 business days for most payment methods, but timing depends on the Payment Gateway and the donor’s bank or card issuer and may take longer. For UPI/wallet refunds, timing may vary by provider.
- Fees & deductions: Payment processors or banks may charge non-recoverable transaction fees. Where payment processors charge non-recoverable fees, such fees may be deducted from refundable amounts — Resurge will disclose any such deduction to the donor. Resurge will endeavour to refund the full donated amount where feasible.
- Partial refunds: Where appropriate and approved (for example, partial refunds for partial cancellations), Resurge may issue a partial refund and will clearly communicate the refunded amount and reasoning.
6. Chargebacks & disputes
If you initiate a chargeback with your card issuer or payment provider, Resurge will respond to the chargeback with supporting documentation. If a chargeback is reversed in Resurge’s favour, the disputed funds will be returned to the Foundation.
Donors are requested to contact Resurge at office@resurgeindia.org before filing a chargeback so that we can attempt to resolve the issue directly. Frequent or abusive chargebacks may result in the suspension of donation privileges.
7. Event tickets, program fees and product-like transactions
Where Resurge sells event tickets, programme seats or goods (if any), refunds and cancellations for those purchases follow the specific event or product terms posted with that event/product.
If an event is cancelled by Resurge, we will offer refund options in the event listing and will communicate the timeframe and method for refunds. If an event is materially changed, donors/ticket-holders will be offered either a pro-rata refund (where appropriate) or a credit, depending on the circumstances. Specific event refunds will be handled on a case-by-case basis.
8. Recurring donations (cancellation of future charges)
Cancelling recurring donations: Donors may cancel future recurring donations at any time by:
Logging into their donor account (if such account exists on the Site) and cancelling the recurring payment/mandate; or
Emailing office@resurgeindia.org with the request to cancel future donations and providing the recurring donation ID or transaction reference.
Effective timing: Cancellation requests will be processed promptly but may not stop a charge already in process. To avoid an imminent scheduled charge, please cancel at least 7 days before the next scheduled date where possible.
Refunds for recent recurring charges: A cancellation prevents future charges; refunds for charges already processed will be evaluated under this Refund & Cancellation Policy (Section 2 and 3).
Bank/processor cancellations: Donors may also cancel mandates directly with their bank or UPI provider. If you cancel via your bank, please notify Resurge so we can coordinate and update our records.
9. Fraud, AML checks & right to refuse refund
Resurge will comply with Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Counter-Terrorism Financing (CTF) obligations. We reserve the right to suspend, freeze or refuse refunds where we have reasonable grounds to suspect fraud, money-laundering, terrorist financing, or other illegal activity, or where a refund would conflict with legal or regulatory obligations.
Resurge may require additional documentation to confirm identity or source of funds prior to issuing a refund.
10. Record-keeping & tax receipts
Where a refund is issued after a tax-deductible receipt has already been provided, Resurge may adjust or cancel the original receipt in its records and provide corrected documentation where required by law. Donors should consult a tax advisor about any implications for tax filings.
11. Contact and escalation
Primary contact for refunds/cancellations: office@resurgeindia.org
Please include full transaction details and any supporting documents in your initial email. We will acknowledge within 3 business days and provide an estimated timeline for resolution.
If you are unsatisfied with the outcome, you may request escalation to Resurge’s Finance Head or relevant officer; we will provide escalation contact details in our written decision.
12. Governing law & jurisdiction
This Policy is governed by the laws of India. Any dispute arising out of or relating to refunds or cancellations will be subject to the jurisdiction of courts competent for the place of Resurge’s registered office.
13. Changes to this Policy
Resurge may update this Refund & Cancellation Policy from time to time. The most current version will be posted at www.resurgeindia.org with the “Effective date” shown above. Continued use of the Site and donations after posting constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
14. Legal disclaimer
This Policy is intended to provide a clear operational framework for donors and Resurge staff. It does not constitute legal advice. Please seek formal legal or tax advice for questions relating to tax deductibility, legal disputes, or regulatory compliance.
By completing this donation you acknowledge that donations to Resurge India Foundation are generally non-refundable. Refunds are considered only for duplicate transactions, proven processing errors, unauthorized charges, or as otherwise stated in our Refund & Cancellation Policy.
